Bouygues Offshore Wins Contract for Erha FPSO
Bouygues Offshore has signed a turnkey contract with Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited for a floating production, storage and offloading vessel for the Erha field, which lies offshore Nigeria in 1,200 meters of water.
The contract for Bouygues Offshore covers engineering, procurement, construction, towing and commissioning of the FPSO, as well as the supply of anchor chains. The FPSO will consist of a 285-meter-long, 63-meter-wide and 32-meter-high hull and 24,000 metric tons of production modules and living quarters. The vessel will have a storage capacity of 2.2 million barrels of oil and an initial production capacity of 165,000 barrels of oil per day.
Engineering and procurement services will be performed in France at Bouygues Offshore's offices in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (near Paris, France) and in Nigeria. Hyundai Heavy Industries will supply the hull. The production modules will be fabricated in Southeast Asia and in Nigeria by NISSCO (2,000 metric tons), a Bouygues Offshore subsidiary. The FPSO is scheduled to arrive on the Erha field mid-2005 in line with planned year-end start-up.
