UK Onshore Geophysical Library Initiates Exploration Support Initiative

In its role as the Department of Trade and Industry's centralized archive and release mechanism for UK onshore seismic data, UKOGL has introduced a new pricing structure aimed at providing real support to new entrants and existing companies active throughout landward areas of the United Kingdom.

The Library's extensive archive of pre- and post-stack data can now be accessed on a short term basis at a greatly reduced rate, during the critical early phases of exploration. With the aim of allowing interested parties to make a fuller assessment of existing awards and of new open acreage areas, upgrades to full costs will only be applicable if, in the case of open area Reconnaissance data, an exploration and production License is subsequently awarded, or in the case of Block Evaluation data over an existing award, a well is later spudded. UKOGL wishes to actively encourage both industry and academia to fully utilize this unique resource and hopes that, in turn, any increased interest will provide additional funding to allow the Library to retrieve and process those endangered data sets yet to be brought into the national archive.
