P-34 Out of Danger

Petrobras reports that the operations for pumping seawater into the tanks on the P-34 are proceeding successfully. As of 6:00 a.m. on October 16th, 4,300 cubic meters of seawater had already been injected into two starboard tanks. As a result of this operation, the inclination of the FPSO has been reduced from 32 degrees to 17 degrees.

In continuance of the planned activities, a team of 13 specialists is preparing to board P-34, with the objective of reestablishing conditions for automatic electricity generation. The resources from the FPSO itself will then be used to reestablish the original conditions of stability for P-34.

Officials say no oil has leaked into the sea so far, but specialist teams are standing by.
