Barbados Announces 2007 Offshore E&P Licensing Round
The Ministry of Energy and the Environment of Barbados has announced plans for an upcoming 2007 Offshore E&P Licensing Round offering 20 open blocks located on the shelf and in deepwater areas in the Northeast Caribbean Deformed Belt. The round will open with a presentation June 22, 2007 in St. James, Barbados, followed by a road show June 27, 2007 in Houston. IHS Inc. has been enlisted as advisor for the round and will facilitate the accompanying road shows on behalf of the Ministry.
A new petroleum law, fiscal system and petroleum regulations are currently being drafted in Barbados for ratification in the third quarter of 2007.
According to the Hon. H. Elizabeth Thompson, Minister of Energy and the Environment, "The petroleum industry has the potential to play an important role in further developing and diversifying the economy of Barbados, and is a wonderful opportunity for local and international investment and employment for our citizens."
The Barbados presentation will be held Friday, June 22, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sandy Lane Club House, Sandy Lane, St. James, Barbados. The Houston event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27, from 8 a.m. until 12 Noon, at the Hilton Post Oak, 2100 Post Oak Boulevard.
The June 22 presentation in Barbados is open to the public, while the June 27 Houston event is open to international E&P company representatives and invited media only, but pre-registration is required for all attendees.
