Intec Engineering Wins Thunder Hawk Pipeline Work
INTEC Engineering has been awarded the deepwater Murphy Thunder Hawk Flowlines and Export Pipelines Detailed Design Contracts in the Gulf of Mexico. The work has commenced and will be completed in mid-2007.
The Thunder Hawk discovery is located in Mississippi Canyon Block 734 in approximately 5710 feet water depth. Murphy Exploration and Production Company-USA is the operator of the lease, and Dominion Exploration & Development, Inc., Hydro Gulf of Mexico. L.L.C. and Marubeni Offshore Production (USA) Inc. are partners. The host processing facility for the development will utilize a floating deep draft semi-submersible design and will be located in MC Block 736, approximately 4.5 miles east of the subsea wells.
INTEC Engineering will perform the detailed design work for the twin 8-inch insulated flowlines that will transport the production fluid from the Thunder Hawk subsea development to the host facility. INTEC has also been awarded the detailed design of the two 12-inch export pipelines that will transport the separated oil and gas from the host facility to the Mardi Gras Transportation System. The detailed design work includes wall thickness selection, cathodic protection design, expansion and lateral buckling analysis, pipeline crossing analysis and pipeline routing. Also included is the detailed design of the tie-in jumper spools that will connect the export pipelines to existing tie-in sleds on the Okeanos and Proteus pipelines.
Award of the Thunder Hawk project represents for INTEC a continuation of significant engineering projects for Murphy. "It has been our privilege to support Murphy Sabah and Petronas Carigali for their benchmark Kikeh Project that will establish new Far East deepwater production records. We are particularly pleased to continue to support Murphy for their next deepwater project in the GOM." said John Stearns, INTEC VP of Marine Pipelines and Risers.
