Ferguson Modular Wins Jumbo Contract Award

International offshore accommodation specialists Ferguson Modular Ltd has won a significant hire contract with Dutch shipping giant Jumbo Offshore v.o.f.

The contract will see Jumbo Offshore hire ten 10.3m A60 four-person accommodation modules for use on the Jumbo Javelin for a minimum three-month duration. The modules will be linked and stacked to form a 40 POB (persons on board) accommodation complex on board the vessel.

The Dutch registered heavy lift vessel will be mobilized from Rotterdam to offshore Boston on the Northeast Coast of the USA, for use on a subsea installation project. The Jumbo Javelin has the ability to "Lift, Ship and Install, All in One Go" in one smooth and continuous operation, including loading manifolds, offloading buoys, suction piles, spiral strand wires and other project equipment.

Divisional Manager – Module Hire, Gary Wilson said: "This contract is very significant, and we are extremely pleased to be working with a major industry player such as Jumbo. Thanks to our in house manufacturing facility we were able to guarantee both lead times and quality of manufacture, which were major factors in securing this contract.

"We are making a significant investment in our hire fleet during 2007 in order to meet industry demand, which will allow us to continue to provide our customers with modules of the highest quality."

This is one of many contracts awarded to Ferguson Modular during 2007, a year which has so far seen the company secure significant contracts with companies including BP, Woodside Ltd, Global Santa Fe and Diamond Offshore.

Ferguson Modular Ltd is part of the Ferguson Group Ltd and has been building A60 offshore accommodation modules since 1976.
