Koshka to Oversee W. Canada Business Development for Ivanhoe
Koshka will be based in Ivanhoe's offices in Calgary, Alberta, and will be focused on developing commercial heavy oil opportunities utilizing Ivanhoe Energy's proprietary heavy oil upgrading technology (HTL(TM)) in the Canadian oilsands region.
Koshka has over 20 years of experience in oilsands development, petroleum refining and crude oil marketing. He joins Ivanhoe Energy from the senior management team at Synenco Energy Inc. in Calgary, a Canadian-based oilsands company.
Prior to his role at Synenco, Koshka worked at Purvin & Gertz, Inc. where he consulted with clients on strategic business development initiatives and market opportunities for the production of bitumen, partially upgraded bitumen, synthetic crude oil and refined petroleum products, including involvement with Ivanhoe Energy's HTL technology. Prior to Purvin & Gertz, he worked for 13 years at Petro-Canada in refinery operations, crude supply and marketing and risk management roles. Koshka has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Calgary and is an active member of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association, as Chairman of its Business and Regulatory committee.
