Nexen Restores Partial Production in the Gulf of Mexico

Nexen is in the process of restoring production that was shut-in due to Hurricane Lili. Currently, approximately half of Nexen's daily production of 10,400 barrels of oil and 120 million cubic feet of natural gas has been restored.

"Lili went right over our Eugene Island field and we're still assessing the damage," said Charlie Fischer, Nexen's President and Chief Executive Officer. "No major vessels or facilities were lost and we believe we can restore the majority of our production within two weeks. We are prioritizing the work and will bring the highest deliverability production back on-stream first where possible."

Work is also resuming at our Aspen development project. Pipeline construction is resuming and the drilling rig is preparing to re-enter the Aspen-2 well to test deeper horizons before completing the well in the primary reservoirs.
