Baker Receives Second Consecutive National Safe Award from MMS
Baker Energy, a unit of Michael Baker Corporation (Amex: BKR), announced that the U.S. Department of Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) has recognized Baker's dedication to safe and responsible operations with a second consecutive National Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE). The SAFE program is designed to recognize and commend operating companies and contractors that expend extra effort and conduct their operations in a safe manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements, employing trained and motivated personnel, and taking extra steps to enhance the safety of operations. Baker received the award in recognition for its outstanding performance while conducting oil and gas production operations on the Outer Continental Shelf of the United States of America.
"This second consecutive MMS National SAFE Award represents an incredible effort by everyone at Baker Energy, especially the employees working on offshore platforms," said Tad LeBlanc, vice president, Health Safety Environmental & Compliance. "Baker has truly built a stellar safety reputation within the oil and gas industry and is recognized as a company that puts safety and compliance at the forefront of our business practices and our culture." LeBlanc was recently recognized as one of just 22 individuals within the Energy industry to receive a 2006 MMS Corporate Leadership Award (CORLA).
