JEBCO Awarded Seismic Survey Offshore South Africa

A new Petroleum System has been identified on the east coast of South Africa through the collaborative work of JEBCO Seismic, the Petroleum Agency of South Africa and Global Exploration Services.

JEBCO will shortly acquire some 6,5000 km of seismic over the Tugela Cone, a vast prograding submarine deltaic system, extending some 200km into the Indian Ocean. Initial work has already proved up the presence of wet gas and oil with Upper Jurassic marine source rock affinities.

JEBCO is currently seeking Oil Company support to share in the first round exploration of this previously under explored and emerging oil and gas province. Discounted early participant rates are available for a limited time. The survey area includes former blocks 17 and 18 and the northernmost part of block 16. This prospective part of east coast South Africa will remain closed to exploration until the data has been made available for review and interpretation. The Petroleum Agency will then accept industry proposals to license acreage.
