Growth Triggers Move to New Base for EV Offshore
EV Offshore Ltd, a leading provider of downhole, well intervention and subsea camera inspection solutions, has moved to a considerably larger operations base in Aberdeen. EVO, which is exhibiting its EVOLeye RT 120 and new EVOLeye HPHT 200 camera inspection systems at this year's OTC on Scottish Pavilion Stand 2571, made the decision to move due to demand from operators for its subsea and downhole inspection services and systems, and associated company growth.
The new EVO operations facility is strategically located in the Kirkhill Industrial Estate in Dyce. Located adjacent to the Aberdeen heliport, the base is ideally situated for emergency call-outs so EVO can mobilize as quickly as possible to customers when they require immediate inspection support.
"The new base makes it possible for us to better serve our customers. We are now able to house and maintain a much larger inventory of equipment, and accommodate additional staff with ease," said David Clover, Operations Director for EVO. "Because we now have the space to maintain additional standby equipment, we can also respond that much more rapidly to customers when they need us most," he added.
The 7,500 sq. ft. base, which features ample office workshop, warehouse and yard, is detached and surrounded by a secure fenced enclosure. Currently, an extensive inventory of equipment is maintained for offshore mobilization, complete with bonded fly-away kits for emergency call-offs. In addition, pressure-testing equipment is held onsite. Overall, the move has made it possible for the Aberdeen base to function as a truly autonomous operations base, while product development and engineering activities remain at the EVO facility in Norwich, England.
Customer Demand and Growth Go Hand in Hand
During the past 12 months EVO has played a key role in a number of major downhole inspection, maintenance and subsea construction projects in the UKCS, Ireland, Norway and the Middle East. During the coming months, EVO will be carrying out inspection operations in the USA, Canada, Holland and Norway. Looking ahead, Clover anticipates that its Aberdeen employee base will increase by 30% to support these operations.
Forging Ahead with Seadrill in Scandinavia
In keeping with its plans to expand globally and strengthen its position in Scandinavia, EVO has appointed offshore drilling contractor Seadrill as its sole agent in Norway, Iceland and Denmark. "While exhibiting for the first time at Offshore Northern Seas 2006 in Stavanger this past summer, we had a series of exciting discussions with members of the Seadrill team at the show," said Clover. "As it turned out, they were keen to offer their customers inspection services in Scandinavia using our technology and expertise. Coupled with our desire to move more aggressively into this market, it was the perfect fit," he added.
Already, inspection operations have been carried out by Seadrill for Statoil, SPS-Norway and a major operator in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Since they began working together, Seadrill and EVO have conducted a series of sales visits with existing and prospective customers in Norway, Denmark and Iceland. As a result, a number of operations have been organized for Q2 for several Norwegian operators and drilling companies.
