BJ Services to Provide Cementing Services to Shell Nigeria
BJ Services has been awarded a contract by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO) to provide cementing services offshore Nigeria.
SNEPCO awarded the multi-million dollar contract to support operations on Bonga Main and Bonga SW Fields. BJ has commenced operations on Bonga Main working from the Transocean Sedco 709 semisub in depths of up to 6,500 feet. Services on Bonga SW are scheduled to begin in late 2007. Services from two additional rigs will also be carried out in late 2009 and early 2010.
The three-year contract is designed to provide SNEPCO with full cementing and pumping services. Currently, BJ is supporting this operation from the company's base in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
"We have been working on behalf of Shell companies in various capacities for nearly 12 years. During that time, BJ has taken definitive steps to create an extremely effective and efficient base of operations in Nigeria," said Umberto Micheli, region manager-Europe and Africa for BJ Services.
"Our dedicated team is intensively trained to uphold the highest safety standards, using the latest state-of-the-art technology and equipment to serve SNEPCO. These attributes, combined with the fact that we opted to use cementing additives and chemicals from a local supplier in Nigeria for a majority of this operation, made BJ Services-Nigeria the clear choice for SNEPCO. We look forward to delivering personalized, quality service to Shell in this growing region, so rich with opportunity," he added.
