|Wednesday, September 25, 2002
Nexen Inc. has shut-in approximately 10,400 barrels of oil and 122 million cubic feet of natural gas production per day in the Gulf of Mexico, due to deteriorating weather conditions from tropical storm Isadore. All Nexen personnel and associated contract employees have been evacuated and construction and development activity at the company's Aspen field has ceased.
"The safety of our people is always paramount," said Charlie Fischer, Nexen's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We will return to full operations as soon as it is safe to do so."
