Hurricane Isidore Moves Across the Yucatan Peninsula

Hurricane Isidore has been downgraded to a tropical storm as it moved inland over the Yucatan Peninsula. The storm has stalled 55 miles south of Merida. Forecasters are predicting that the storm will head back out over water late Monday and that it could hit the Texas or Louisiana coastline on Thursday or Friday of this week.

Pemex evacuated approximately 8,000 oil workers from its platforms and rigs in the area. Most oil companies working in the Gulf of Mexico have already evacuated their non-essential personnel, however, there has been loss of production due to this evacuation.
