Tethys Set to Spud Re-entry Well in Oman

Tethys Oil AB announced the rig-up is completed and safety and function checks are underway at the Jebel Aswad re-entry well in Block 15, onshore Oman. The company expects drilling to begin by Saturday.

As of Thursday morning, the Dalma Rig number 3 was rigged up and all systems go awaiting final checks. Tethys expects to begin drilling operations within 48 hours when the surface cement plugs of the Jebel Aswad well, set in 1995, will be penetrated and the re entry operations started. Drilling operations are expected to last for some 40 days, including two horizontal sections in among others the oil-bearing Natih limestone at 3,000 meters below the surface.

Tethys Oil (Oman) Limited is the operator and holds 40 percent interest on Block 15.
