PSL Energy Services Bolsters Kazak Ops with New Office and Country Manager

PSL Energy Services Ltd has appointed David Kay as Country Manager for Kazakhstan and has also opened a new office in Atyrau which will support the company's ongoing contracts in Tengiz and facilitate the acquisition of new business in Kazakhstan.

Mr. Kay has a wide experience of well engineering disciplines working for major operators in the North Sea and in various management, operational and technical roles in the former Soviet Union.

During a 10 year spell with Baker Hughes, Mr Kay worked in Uzbekistan and Siberia and latterly was Operations Manager based in Moscow, responsible for setting up major integrated drilling projects for Russian and international clients.

Tom Sherwin, PSL's regional manager for the Caspian, said: "Now that PSL is established with a registered office in Atyrau, the business is better positioned to support the on-going operations in Tengiz and the wider customer base in Western Kazakhstan.

"A contract has already been signed with Keppel Kazakhstan Limited (KKL) in Aktau for hot oil flushing and this should be the first of many new opportunities for David Kay and the Kazakhstan team."

David Kay added: "PSL have worked very hard over the last few years to establish strong links with Kazakhstan and neighbouring Caspian countries and I am looking forward to adding to their success in the region.

"I hope that with my mix of technical and management experience and background of working in the FSU that we can move the Kazakhstan operation on to a higher level and reinforce PSL's position as one of the leading providers of integrated well services solutions in the region."

PSL are currently working on a one year £4.6 million ($8.6M) contract for PFD International LLC which covers nitrogen and air helium leak testing and controlled bolting services at the TengizChevrOil (TCO) Second Generation Project site in Tengiz.
