AGR Drilling Services Strengthens Management Team
AGR Drilling Services has strengthened its management structure with two new key appointments. Bjarte Aldal, formerly managing director of Bergen Engineering AS, has been appointed Chief Technical Officer, and Stig Andersen, currently Country Manager of KCA Deutag Drilling Norge AS will take up his position as Business Development Director on April 1.
AGR Drilling, headquartered in Straume, near Bergen, is one of the three business divisions with AGR Group, the Norway-based oil technology and services group, responsible for the supply of innovative equipment and services for offshore drilling and well operations. The equipment includes AGR's Riserless Mud Recovery (RMR) technology, that, with its cost saving, safety and environmental benefits, is helping to transform the way offshore wells are drilled worldwide.
Mr. Aldal, aged 44, who joined AGR earlier this month, received his higher education at Bergen College of Engineering and Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He has more than 18 years of business experience, mainly within management, engineering and construction. Prior to joining Bergen Engineering, Mr. Aldal was Vice President, Technical Services, with Prosafe Drilling Services AS where, for a period, he was responsible for Consafe Baku in Azerbaijan.
Mr. Andersen, aged 42, was educated at Bergen University and Handelshoyskolen BI, Bergen, where he gained a Master of Management Degree. Before joining KCA Deutag Drilling Norge, Mr Andersen was Vice President, Human Resources with Rolls-Royce Marine AS. He, too, previously worked for Prosafe Drilling Services AS, as Education Manager and then Human Resources Manager.
"We are delighted to have strengthened our management team in this way," said Sveinung Olsen, Executive Vice President of AGR Drilling Services. "We have some exciting technologies and services that are already bringing significant benefits to the offshore oil and gas industry. The appointment of these top class, experienced executives will not only help us achieve our ambitious growth projections but also ensure that we remain at the cutting edge of technology."
