Duffy & McGovern Sees Busy Start to 2007

Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services has delivered six of its high-specification units on contracts around the UKCS, as its busy start to 2007 continues.

The deals are worth a combined £80,000 to Aberdeen-headquartered Duffy and McGovern (DMAS), which was recently acquired by US oilfield services firm Superior Energy Services.

A newbuild, A60, zone 1 office and a zone 2 teashack have been supplied to KCA Deutag on a year's contract, for use during modification and upgrade work being carried out on the Thistle Platform.

Pathfinder (Aberdeen) has taken an A60, zone 1, DNV-approved pressurized engineering cabin to be used for data acquisition during well operations on Diamond Drilling's Ocean Nomad vessel in the outer Moray Firth.

BHP Billiton has also taken a high-spec engineering module to be used as an office for well-site personnel working in the Douglas Field. An A60, zone 2-rated pressurized cabin will house a diving control panel during a subsea Christmas tree change-out project for KD Marine on the Ensco 80 in the Deben Field for three months.

DMAS is also continuing its growing relationship with Metrol Technologies, providing an A60 test cabin, which also complies with DNV-271, SOLAS and IMO regulations, to the Heather Platform.

Commercial director, Craig Russell said ongoing expansion of the DMAS fleet will ensure the company can meet the high level of demand in the North Sea as well as in global markets.

"The range and volume of modules being provided to rigs and vessels covering the length of the UK continental shelf demonstrates our ability to meet demand in the ever-buoyant North Sea," he said.

"Our cabins meet stringent offshore safety requirements and can be modified to meet our customers' exact requirements and suit a range of applications."

DMAS was acquired by Superior Energy Services in a $47 million (UK£23.7 million) deal in January, as part of the US firm's ongoing international expansion. Duffy and McGovern's products complement the service provided by Superior's existing accommodation subsidiary HB Rentals, which is head quartered in Broussard, Louisiana and provides accommodation and accessories to oil and gas companies in Oklahoma, Texas, the Rocky Mountains, Gulf of Mexico and Trinidad.
