Conoco Drills Duster Offshore Norway

Norske Conoco AS has completed drilling of exploration well 34/6-1 S in production license 268, 120 km west of Floro. The main purpose of the well was to investigate possible hydrocarbon deposits in source rocks from the Early and Middle Jurassic Ages.

The well was drilled in 380 meters of water to a total vertical depth of 3896 meters below sea level. The well was completed in source rocks presumably from the Late Triassic Age. No hydrocarbons were proven in the well.

The well will now be plugged and abandoned. The well was drilled with the Transocean Winner drilling rig, which will now be laid up temporarily.

Licensees in PL 268 are Norske Conoco as operator with 40%; Norske Chevron with 30%; Fortum Petroleum with the remaining 30%.
