Amerada Hess Corporation reports that the Garden Banks Block 200 Well No. 3, drilled to a total depth of 14,500 feet to evaluate early pleistocene CRIS S reservoir sands, encountered 121 feet of net gas pay in three sands below 12,000 feet. This is a confirmation well to the Garden Banks Block 200 Well #1 discovery that was drilled by the Diamond Offshore semisubmersible, Ocean Rover in 1998. Development scenarios are being evaluated. Garden Banks Block 200 is located 125 miles offshore Louisiana in approximately 1,750 feet of water. Amerada Hess Corporation owns a 50% interest in Garden Banks 200. Its partners are Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corporation with a 25% interest and Petrobras America Inc. with a 25% interest. Amerada Hess is the operator.
