CNPC Wins $230 Million Pipeline Contract

China National Petroleum Corp. has been awarded a $230 million contract to build two 520-kilometer oil and gas pipelines in Libya. This is CNPC first contract in Libya. The pipelines will link the Wafa field in southern Libya to Melitah, near the country's capital. Work is scheduled to being in November of this year and should be completed by the end of 2003 with production expected to start in early 2004.
