J. Ray McDermott Wins Aspen Subsea Contract

J. Ray McDermott, Inc. has received a contract from BP valued at approximately $15 million for the installation of the Aspen Subsea Development project. Aspen is located at Green Canyon Block 243 in approximately 3,100' water depth just 150 miles southwest of New Orleans. BP and their partner Nexen Petroleum USA, Inc. will tieback Aspen with two seven-inch insulated flowlines and subsea control umbilical to Shell's Bullwinkle platform. Bullwinkle is located at Green Canyon Block 65 in approximately 1,350' water depth.

Mentor Subsea, a subsidiary of J. Ray, will execute the project which includes the installation and commissioning of the two flowlines and umbilical. Work scope also contains the engineering design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of two Pipeline End Manifolds (PLEMS) which will provide tie-ins for multiple subsea wells at Aspen.

Installation will begin later this month and will utilize the company's Derrick Barge 16 (DB16) and Derrick Barge 50 (DB50). The DB16 will install 36 miles of flowline using the S-Lay method and the DB50 will install the 18 miles of umbilical.
