PetroIran Develops Salman Field
Monday, August 12, 2002
PetroIran aims to boost production at the Salman Field from its current output of 85,000 barrels per day to 131,000 barrels per day. Development is scheduled to begin in early 2003 with production expected to commence by October. The focus will be on bringing the field's gas to a refining facility at Assaluyeh port via a 30-inch, 240-kilometer long pipeline. Once the gas development has been completed, attention will be placed on developing the oil and condensate reserves. Once development is complete, the field is expected to produce around 50,000 barrels per day of oil, 6,000 barrels per day of condensate, and 500 million cubic feet per day of gas.
The Salman Field is located approximately 88 miles south of the Lavan Islands in the Persian Gulf on Iran's border with Abu Dhabi.
