Gas Leak Reported on Beryl Bravo Platform in the North Sea
Five oil workers have been hospitalized after a gas leak occurred on the Beryl Bravo Platform early Monday morning. The platform is located approximately 185 miles north east of Aberdeen and has a workforce of 235 personnel.
The incident occurred during routine maintenance associated with a planned shutdown of the platform. The workers were flown to a hospital in Shetland as a precautionary measure. Three of the men have been released while two are still in the hospital under observation. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
ExxonMobil, owner of the platform, said an investigation in underway to determine the cause of the gas leak.
