Ferguson Modular Scores Orders from GSF, Diamond
Aberdeenshire-based global offshore accommodation specialists Ferguson Modular has secured two contracts worth a combined £1.6 million with drilling contractors Global Santa Fe and Diamond Offshore (UK) Ltd.
The first order is for the supply of additional permanent living quarters on Global Santa Fe's Galaxy II. Two A60, ABS-certified, 20-person accommodation complexes, each comprising four modules linked over two levels, will together form a permanent complex on the Galaxy II capable of sleeping up to 40 POB (Persons on Board) and will be manufactured at Ferguson's Inverurie manufacturing facility.
The second important order, for Diamond Offshore, will see Ferguson supply two 10.3-meter, A60, DNV 2.7-1 modules. The first module is a smoking / non-smoking tea shack while the second unit will be configured as a laundry module for use by personnel on the Ocean Nomad.
Mike McKay, Divisional Manager, Manufacturing, comments: "We are delighted to have secured these contracts.
"The order for the permanent living quarters for Global Santa Fe uses many of our standard design features for larger POB requirements which we are very experienced at delivering. This and our ability to deliver on time were the key factors in securing the contract on the Galaxy II."
"The order for Diamond Offshore allows us to provide a Ferguson standard design in which we will customize the internal layout to suit the exact requirements of the client. It is another good example of our standard designs providing a cost-effective but flexible option with high quality standard features including advanced integrated split HVAC and PLC-based fire and gas detection systems."
Mike adds: "We have enjoyed a great deal of success since standardizing the design of our 7.6m and 10.3m workspace and accommodation units. Benefits include reduced design, engineering and manufacturing time creating savings which can be passed on to our clients."
These latest orders add to a large portfolio of projects already completed by Ferguson Modular during 2006. As a result of recent contracts secured and with further announcements imminent the manufacturing division at Inverurie has been strengthened with the recruitment of several new engineering personnel.
The Inverurie-headquartered firm invested £3 million in new equipment during 2006, which has resulted in the availability of several new accommodation modules for their hire fleet.
Ferguson Modular is part of the Ferguson Group and has been building A60 offshore accommodation modules since 1976. The modules are built in-house at the company's extensive manufacturing facility at Inverurie to the latest specifications. The company's product range includes a variety of A60 DNV 2.7-1 offshore accommodation and workspace modules predominantly for the offshore market, and Modupack, a unique and flexible panel system module suitable for onshore use.
The offshore accommodation fleet currently stands at 154 units and the Group employs over 120 people.
