Hydro Resumes Production from Njord

Oil production on the Hydro-operated platform Njord resumed at approximately 10 p.m. local time Thursday after a minor gas leak in a valve prompted a brief shutdown.

The platform management shut down production at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday following a minor gas leak in a valve on one of the gas injection wells. The leak was quickly brought under control, and the situation was normalized within an hour, Hydro said in a statement.

The gas injection well is now closed so that the valve can be repaired. However, this does not affect production, which will soon be back at the normal level for Njord - around 25,000 barrels per day.

The Njord field has been developed with a floating steel platform, Njord A, which has an integrated deck with drilling and processing facilities, as well as living quarters. The field is located in the North Sea approximately 130 kilometers northwest of Kristiansund.
