ABS Appoints Richardson Vice President Energy Development
ABS has named Ken Richardson to the position of Vice President Energy Development effective January 1, 2007. Richardson replaces William J. Sember who has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer ABS Europe.
Richardson is a 24 year veteran of ABS and has served in senior management positions within ABS and its affiliate, ABS Group of Companies Inc. Prior to this appointment, Richardson served as Senior Vice President, Energy and Transportation, ABSG Consulting Inc., a subsidiary of the ABS Group.
Richardson has also served as Vice President Engineering for the Americas Division of ABS.
"Ken's previous experience has made him a well known figure within the US and international energy and offshore sectors," said ABS Chairman and CEO Robert D. Somerville. "That experience has given him a deep technical knowledge of the sector together with a broad commercial exposure to the offshore industry."
The ABS Energy Development team provides a responsive, one-stop point of contact for all of the classification society's offshore oil and gas customers The group focuses on developing new business within the extremely active offshore energy sector with a particular emphasis on expanding ABS' leading position within the MODU and floating production segments and developing additional opportunities in the classification of offshore terminals.
Richardson will be located at the ABS worldwide headquarters in Houston, Texas, USA, reporting directly to Todd Grove, ABS Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff.
