SCAN Geophysical Begins Chevron Seismic Work Offshore Venezuela

SCAN Geophysical

SCAN Geophysical has begun 3D seismic acquisition for Chevron offshore Venezuela.

The survey encompasses two non-adjacent areas and is expected to take several months to complete. The M/V SCAN Resolution, newly arrived in Venezuela after completing a survey in the Mediterranean, is conducting the Chevron survey. The M/V SCAN Resolution features the latest solid-streamer and source technology, incorporating an environmentally-friendly design for quiet operation in moderate seas.

"We have been looking forward to conducting our first seismic survey in the Americas," said Stephane Touche, Senior Vice President and COO of SCAN. "This not only establishes our presence in an important new market, but also is consistent with our plan to expand seismic value worldwide."

SCAN Geophysical ASA was established in 2002 as a Norwegian seismic data acquisition company specializing in both marine streamer seismic and ocean bottom seismic. The company is currently operating one 2D and one 3D streamer vessel, and will launch three new state-of-the-art 3D vessels and one 2002-built 2D vessel during 2007. The administration is located in Oslo, with representatives in Moscow, Houston, Singapore and Caracas. SCAN Geophysical ASA is listed on the Norwegian OTC list (SCAN).
