Viking Drilling Names New President
Viking Drilling ASA reports that Mr. W. Dennis Heagney has accepted the position as President and CEO of the company effective January 2, 2007.
Mr. Heagney has more than 30 years of experience and a proven track record in the offshore drilling industry.
He has served as Chief Operating Officer of Transocean Inc. (1996 – 2002), the world's largest drilling contractor, and President of Sonat Offshore Drilling (1986 – 1995) where he had worked since 1969. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President – Business Development of Songa Management, Houston, Texas.
Heagney played a key role in the merger between Transcoean and Sonat in 1996, the merger between Transocean and Sedco Forex in 2000 and Transocean's acquisition of R.B. Falcon in 2001. Heagney also played a key role in taking Sonat public in 1993.
Heagney is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a professional degree in Petroleum Engineering, and has attended a Harvard PMD>
The organization is further strengthened with Mrs. Youllonda Driver, who has accepted the position as Controller effective January 2, 2007.
She has been working as Controller of Songa Management, Houston, Texas and has held several positions with Transocean Offshore Inc.
Both Heagney and Driver will be based in Houston, Texas, where the reactivation of SS Viking Producer is currently underway, and the two other semisubs bare decks are laid up.
The appointment of Heagney as President & CEO with his substantial experience will add substance to the company's position in the offshore drilling industry.
Mr. Ole Geir Hagen will act as the company's Chief Financial Officer effective January 2, 2007.
