Exploration Well Sidi Rahman-1X in Egypt Successfully Tested

RWE Dea

RWE Dea says that the exploration well Sidi Rahman-1X drilled on the East Yidma concession encountered oil.

Located on the East Yidma concession, Sidi Rahman-1X is the first well tested successfully within the concession and discovered oil in two zones; the Cretaceous Kharita and Bahariya Sands.

The Sidi Rahman-1X result confirmed the western desert trend in East Yidma and is encouraging for further exploration activities. It is expected that the discovery can be developed in the near future through nearby existing infrastructure if commerciality can be proven.

The first test flowed, in the lower Kharita Sand, at 3,200 barrels of oil and 0.97mmscfd of gas with a 1,045 psia flowing pressure on a half inch choke. The second test in the Bahariya Sand, produced another 1,314 barrels of oil on a half inch choke with a 119 psia flowing pressure.

The Sidi Rahman-1X was drilled to a total depth of 14,382ft to explore not only the Cretaceous carbonates and sandstones but also to target the deeper Jurassic sandstones. Sufficient hydrocarbon potential was identified in at least three Cretaceous intervals.

INA is the operator with 50% and RWE Dea hold the remaining 50%.
