ENI Awarded Record Number of Offshore Construction Projects

During the first half of 2002 Saipem has been awarded a record number of contracts for its offshore construction business unit. Collectively, the contracts are in excess of euro 1.2 billion.

Just last month, together with the award of the production platform contract, offshore Libya, (announced on June 19th), Saipem has been awarded new contracts for a total value of approximately euro 350 million, following international tenders. Some of the major contracts are as follows:

  • Total Fina Elf has awarded Saipem the lump sum turn key contract EPSC2 for Peciko Project phase 4. The scope includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, transport & installation of two platforms and six pipelines, offshore East Kalimantan Indonesia. Marine activities, performed by Castoro 2 and Maxita will be completed in July 2004.
  • In the North Sea, Saipem has been chosen by Shell to perform the Goldeneye contract, comprising the laying of two pipelines by Castoro 6 during the second quarter 2003.
  • A JV between Saipem and the Nigerian company Pelfaco has been awarded the Okpoho platform contract, offshore Nigeria, by Agip Energy Nigeria. The scope includes engineering, procurement, construction and start-up activities. Fabrication activities will commence shortly, and the installation phase is expected to be performed in June 2003 by Castoro Otto.
