Emerald Energy Plans Additional Seismic Work on Block 26
Emerald Energy says the Tigris No.1 exploration well is drilling ahead at a depth of 2,280 meters with a planned total depth of approximately 4,500 meters. The well was spud on September 10, 2006 and is estimated to take 90 to 120 days to drill and evaluate.
Tigris No.1 is the second of four commitment wells to be drilled during the initial exploration phase of the contract for Block 26 that ends in August 2007.
A program to acquire an additional 266 kilometers of 2D seismic in Block 26 in Syria has commenced.
Emeralds' Chairman, Alastair Beardsall, said:
"We are pleased to be making significant progress with the Tigris No.1 well. The acquisition of this further seismic will assist in the development of the future drilling program"
Emerald holds a 50% interest in Block 26 through its fully owned subsidiary SNG Overseas Ltd.
