Burgos E&P Tenders Attract 14 Groups to Date

Fourteen groups have purchased bidding rules to date from Mexican state oil company Pemex's E&P unit Pemex Exploracion y Produccion (PEP) for three E&P natural gas contracts in the Burgos basin, according to PEP meeting minutes.

The international tenders are for the Nejo, Monclova and Euro blocks and entail works related to the development, infrastructure and maintenance of non-associated gas fields.

The following purchased Nejo rules: Repsol Exploracion Mexico, Cobra Instalaciones Mexico, PTD Servicios Multiples, Tecpetrol de Mexico and Swecomex.

The following bought Monclova rules: Repsol Exploracion Mexico, PTD Servicios Multiples, Construcciones Mecanicas Monclova, Grupo Creatica, Lewis Energy Mexico, Minera Carbonifera Rio Escondido, Coahuila Industrial Minera and Monclova Pirineos Gas.

The following purchased rules for Euro: Repsol Exploracion Mexico, Swecomex, Tecpetrol de Mexico, PTD Servicios Multiples, Grupo Creatica, Cobra Instalaciones Mexico, Encana Corporation, Petrodomos Servicios Industriales and Grupo Operador de Ingenieria y Montajes.

Deadlines for purchasing rules for Nejo, Monclova and Euro are October 18, November 1 and November 8 respectively with offers due October 24, November 7 and November 14.

Works for all three contracts are slated to begin in January 2007 and will take place in Tamaulipas state. The contracts will run for 15 years.

The works total nearly US$2bn and aim to increase natural gas production by 200Mf3/d (5.66Mm3/d).

Burgos output hit a record 1.34Bf3/d in July, while output at the basin is expected to reach almost 2Bf3/d in 2011.
