Telvent Signs EUR 20 Million Contract with Pemex

Telvent GIT S.A. and Pemex have signed a three-year, 20 million euro contract for Telvent to provide integrated voice and data communications services via satellite communication to the E&P unit of Pemex.

Telvent will provide access to voice and data communication services to more than 170 exploration wells. With this service, the Pemex headquarters will have real-time information about the operation of the wells, and will be able to analyze that information jointly in order to communicate any plan changes required to their personnel around the world. The Contract includes preventive and corrective maintenance for the communications equipment existing in the platforms, as well as the extension and update of the telecommunications center from where Pemex currently controls the existing systems.

"We are proud to see that our technology helps Pemex to manage their crude petroleum and Natural Gas reserves efficiently. We have been working together for 15 years, and in each project we find new opportunities to add value to their business," said Manuel Sanchez Ortega, Telvent's chairman and chief executive officer.

"When a Pemex exploration plant in the open sea finds oil, our communication systems are the first to supply this information to the oil company," added Sanchez Ortega.

Telvent did their first project for Pemex in Mexico in 1993, when it supplied the first set of integrated measurement, control and operation (SIMCOT) systems. Since then, Telvent has carried out more than 50 projects with this energy company, including the control and communications system of the National Network of Gas Pipelines, the Automation of the Nitrogen supply plant of the Mexican city of Samaria, the leak detection system for the control center of the Tamazunchale and Valley of Mexico gas pipelines, and the security control and emergency stop systems for the marine platforms of Campeche located 80 kilometers from El Carmen island.

Telvent, the Global RealTime IT Company, specializes in high value add solutions and services in four industry sectors (Energy, Traffic, Transport and Environment). Its technology allows high performing companies to make real-time business decisions using data acquisition, control, and advanced operational applications, providing secure actionable information delivery to the enterprise.
