MCS Signs New Deal with Petrobras at Rio Show
MCS, which specializes in delivering engineering solutions to some of the most complex subsea challenges, will be sharing its expertise with Petrobras. The company will provide the major operator with subsea engineering consultancy work in the areas of submarine steel pipes and steel catenary risers, flexible pipe, umbilicals, subsea equipment, and risk analysis.
"This is a major contract for us as it allows us to demonstrate the breadth and depth of our subsea capabilities to a range of people within Petrobras," says Otávio Sertã, MCS director in Brazil. "It is particularly pleasing to be able to announce this contract at the country's biggest oil and gas show."
This is the second time MCS has exhibited at Rio Oil & Gas, the first was in 2004 when they announced the opening of their office in Rio de Janeiro.
"In those two years, we have more than doubled the business and now have a strong reputation in Brazil. We are well-placed to grasp the opportunities presented by the increasing activity in this province and the shortage of good services providers with a local presence.
"Primarily recognized for our work in risers, we are gaining a reputation in other areas, particularly in the technical and technological support for umbilical and flexible pipe manufacturers.
During the show MCS will be promoting its expanded range of services. These are riser delivery management where MCS is taking a partnership approach to maximizing production and reducing costs; integrity management; drilling services from analytical work to software installation, operational support and planning; and a range of software products which include DeepLand, DeepDrift and PipeLay.
Serta concludes: "Integrity management is a big growth area for us and we believe our experience in flexible pipe coupled with our approach to integrity management will be in demand in Brazil, given the importance of flexible pipe to Petrobras, whose typical approach for offshore systems are floating production units linked to subsea wells and equipment by means of flexible risers and flowlines."
MCS is a subsea engineering company working in the offshore oil and gas subsea sector. The company provides services ranging from feasibility and conceptual studies through to detailed design and verification in the areas of floating production systems, flexible risers and flowline systems, top tensioned risers, oil-tanker loading systems, steel catenary risers, drilling risers and mooring systems.
