Ecopetrol Awards 2 Marginal Fields
Colombia's state oil firm Ecopetrol has awarded operating concessions for the Guarimena and Hato Nuevo fields to local oil company Petrotesting and a consortium of Venezuela's Empesa and Colombia's NCT respectively.
The two fields made up the third round of Ecopetrol's discovered undeveloped and inactive fields (CDND/I) bidding process. Eight companies had submitted bids, Ecopetrol said in a statement.
Guarimena covers 10,676ha in Huila department in the upper Magdalena basin, while Hato Nuevo covers 525ha in Casanare department in the Llanos basin. Each field produces some 50-200 barrels a day.
