BJ Services Names Country Manager for Libya

BJ Services has appointed Marc Allenby to the post of Libya country manager for the Well Services Division within the Europe and Africa Region. In his new role, Allenby has been instrumental in opening the new Well Services business unit in Libya. He manages all operations activities related to well services throughout the country, with emphasis on specialist services such as coiled tubing, cementing and other pumping services. He is also responsible for health, safety and environmental performance, financial performance, business development, and compliance requirements.

Prior to his promotion to Libya country manager for Well Services, Allenby served in a variety of roles at BJ Services. Most recently, he worked for two years as business development manager for the Middle East Region in Dubai, and as country manager of Kuwait from 2000 to 2003. In addition, he was marketing manager in Kazakhstan, and country manager in Syria.

Allenby joined BJ Services in 1996 when the company acquired his employer, Nowsco. He began his career in the oil industry in 1983, working offshore in the North Sea for Rowan Drilling before joining Nowsco in the United Kingdom in l987.

As Libya country manager, Allenby is intent upon managing the company's Well Services operations with a strong commitment to health, safety and the environment. "I will be building upon the impressive safety record of BJ Services to make certain that the Libya base complies with all relevant QHSE policies," said Allenby. "I also aim to ensure that we differentiate BJ from the competition in Libya by maintaining a team of best-in-class personnel, and serving customers with the latest equipment and technologies," he added.

With more than 23 years of varied experience in the oil industry, Allenby, 42, reports to Umberto Micheli, region manager – Europe & Africa of Well Services for BJ Services. A native of Suffolk, England, he is based in Tripoli, Libya.
