Three Companies Bid for Chubut Oil Blocks in Argentina

Argentina's Chubut province has received bids from three companies for concessions on five oil blocks.

The bidders were Oil M&S, a consortium of local companies Enerac and Energial, and the Clivendent Petroleo Argentino consortium, according to a report from the provincial government's news service.

The blocks on offer are Pampa Salamanca Norte, San Bernardo, Confluencia, Rio Senguer and Paso Moreno, all onshore. Economic bids will be announced on July 7, a spokesperson from provincial energy company Petrominera Chubut Sociedad del Estado told BNamericas.

"We hope new investments come to our province," the report quoted Petrominera chairman Nestor di Pierro as saying. "Today the resource is worth more, today the province has stopped being the dumb state that seemed to say that those who came to take our resource, our oil, were doing us a favor," he continued.
