RWE Dea Hires Two Rigs for Disouq Exploration in Egypt
RWE Dea has contracted two 2000 HP onshore drilling rigs from Croatian firm CROSCO Intergrated Drilling Well Services for a two year period, in order to be able to continue the aggressive exploration program in the Disouq concession in the Nile Delta, Egypt. The first rig will commence drilling in September 2006 and the second one will start work in 2007.
"We are very pleased that we could contract these rigs, enabling us to pursue our aggressive exploration program in the Disouq concession and neighboring concessions" Thomas Rappuhn, member of the Board of Management of RWE Dea AG stated.
RWE Dea, as contractor and operator, has 100% participating interest in the concession which covers an area of 5,523 km2. The company is currently in the process of acquiring 1,000 km2 3D seismic to better understand the exploration area and define the next drilling prospects.
RWE Dea has been active in Egypt for 32 years, and has been producing oil there for more than twenty years. The German upstream company participates in a further ten concessions, and is operator of four of them.
The ongoing activities in the Nile Delta clearly show RWE Dea's commitment to generate further opportunities in the country in cooperation with EGAS and its other partners.
