Shell's Auger Platform Back to Normal

Production from Shell's Auger platform should be fully restored within the next two to three days. The Auger platform is located in Garden Banks 426 in the Gulf of Mexico, 214 miles southwest of New Orleans. The platform's normal output averaged 78,000 barrels per day and had been limited to 58,000 barrels per day since early March. Some of the wells in the area had been shut to enable the replacement of a gas riser that was damaged because of unusually strong sea currents. "They have begun ramping up these wells now. It should hit full rates within two to three days," a Shell spokesperson said. Output was curtailed initially to 48,000 barrels per day at the end of February when the strong sea current had set in and affected some equipment. About half of the output from Auger goes into the Bonito Sour pool and the rest to the Eugene Island pool.
