Kerr-McGee Names McCaslin Managing Director of Brazil Operations
"Kurt is a strong leader with tremendous depth of industry knowledge and expertise," said Charles A. Meloy, Kerr-McGee vice president of exploration and production. "During his 26 years in the industry, Kurt has worked in a number of international settings including Kazakhstan, China, and Scotland."
McCaslin joined the company in 1980 as a petroleum engineer. Since that time, he has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility. He holds a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
The Chinook field, located in the shallow-water block BM-C-7 offshore Brazil, has an estimated resource range of 250 million to 450 million barrels of oil equivalent. Kerr-McGee continues to work with its partners and the Brazilian government toward a final development plan. Kerr-McGee owns a 50-percent working interest in the 133,000-acre block, which is approximately 125 miles southeast of Rio de Janeiro.
