FMC Wins Marquis Contract from Canadian Superior

Canadian Superior Energy Inc. has awarded contracts to FMC Technologies Canada Company for the supply of surface wellhead and mudline suspension equipment and associated services for Canadian Superior's upcoming Marquis L-35 offshore exploration well. The drilling location for this first well is on the Company's "Marquis" Abenaki Reef prospect located approximately 160 kilometers (100 miles) offshore Nova Scotia.

Drilling of the "Marquis" well is expected to commence drilling before June 30, 2002 and it will be located on Exploration License EL 2402 which was purchased by Canadian Superior on October 31, 2000 for a work expenditure bid of Cdn. $22.5 Million. Canadian Superior's Director of East Coast Operations, Mike Coolen, said in Halifax today that Canadian Superior is pleased to announce that it has awarded to FMC Technologies Canada Company the supply of surface wellheads and mudline suspension systems and associated services. The total value is expected to exceed $1 Million, when complete. "FMC provides surface wellhead and completion products and services for similar applications worldwide, and has extensive offshore Nova Scotia experience. FMC will provide operation's support from their Halifax Operations Base located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia".

Canadian Superior's "Marquis Prospect" is located approximately 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) northwest of Sable Island and is directly on trend and analogous to the recent Deep Panuke Abenaki Reef Natural Gas Discovery, approximately 25 kilometers (15.6 miles) to the southwest where several new wells have been tested with productive capacity each in excess of 50 mmcf/d. The Deep Panuke discovery is expected to produce up to 400 mmcf/d when it is brought on line.
