Noble Affiliates Proposes Name Change

Noble Affiliates, Inc. announced that at its April 23, 2002 annual meeting of shareholders it intends to request an amendment to the Company's Certificate of Incorporation to change the company's name to Noble Energy, Inc.

Noble believes that the change in its name will better describe the business in which the company is engaged and improve its identification in the marketplace. The new name is designed to build on the tradition of the "Noble" name and to replace "Affiliates" with " Energy" in order to reflect that the company is involved in many aspects of the energy business, including the exploration, production, acquisition and marketing of hydrocarbons and the production and marketing of energy, including methanol and power.

Noble Affiliates, Inc., the parent company of Samedan Oil Corporation, Noble Gas Marketing, Inc. and Noble Trading, Inc., is one of the nation's leading independent energy companies. Noble Affiliates, Inc. operates throughout major basins in the United States, including the Gulf of Mexico, as well as internationally in Argentina, China, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, the Mediterranean Sea, the North Sea and Vietnam.
