Cheniere Energy Announces Opening of European Office

Cheniere Energy has opened a European office in Paris, France, to further enhance the Company's activities in securing natural gas supply for North America from the developing global LNG supply arena. Simultaneously, Mr. Jean Abiteboul has been hired as the Executive Director of Cheniere LNG International, SARL.

Mr. Abiteboul's most recent post was as Vice-President, Advisor to the Chairman & CEO, Secretary of the Board of Directors of Gaz de France (GDF) where he had a 30 year career including previous positions as International Executive Vice-President; Executive Vice-President for Supply, Trading and Marketing; President of Gaselys, the energy trading subsidiary of GDF and Societe Generale; President of GDF-US and GDF-Quebec; and served on the Board of Directors of different affiliated companies in the United States (Tejas Power Corporation), in Canada and in France. He was also co-chairman of the LNG sea transportation company Methane Transport, and Director of Gazocean Armement.

The office will be located at 46, rue Pierre CHARRON - PARIS (8th arrondissement).

Cheniere Energy, Inc. is a Houston based energy company engaged in developing LNG receiving terminals and Gulf of Mexico Exploration & Production. Cheniere is building a 100% owned Gulf Coast LNG receiving terminal near Sabine Pass in Cameron Parish, LA and developing 100% owned Gulf Coast LNG receiving terminals near Corpus Christi, TX, and near the Creole Trail in Cameron Parish, LA. Cheniere is also a 30% limited partner in Freeport LNG Development, L.P., which is building an LNG receiving terminal in Freeport, Texas. Cheniere explores for oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico using a regional database of 7,000 square miles of PSTM 3D seismic data.
