ANP to Hold Tender for 21 Mature Oilfields in May

Brazil's hydrocarbons regulator ANP plans to offer 21 marginal mature oil and gas fields in a tender at the end of May, ANP said in a statement.

The tender will be aimed at small companies wishing to enter the oil and gas production business. The fields are located in the states of Maranhao, Espirito Santo and Rio Grande do Norte. The final listing of the areas needs approval by the mines and energy ministry and the national energy council.

The rules will be similar to the tender held in the seventh licensing round last October, when ANP offered 17 mature fields and awarded contracts for 16 of them.

At the time ANP officials said there was more than enough demand for small mature fields to hold an additional tender.

In October this year ANP plans to hold the eighth hydrocarbon licensing round, when it will offer competitive exploration blocks.
