Dr. Paul Jukes Transfers to Houston as Principal Engineer for J P Kenny

J P Kenny, the subsea and pipelines specialists subsidiary of international energy services company John Wood Group, has appointed Dr. Paul Jukes as principal engineer in its Houston, Texas office. His position will involve overseeing and leading pipeline design projects, with a focus on enhancing the technical and engineering value JPK provides to specific subsea projects.

Paul moves to Houston from JPK's London office with eight years of subsea industry experience. Paul's recent project experience with JPK includes the Tweedsmuir Development for Talisman Energy Ltd. and the Rhum Field Development for British Petroleum. Prior to his employment with JPK, he oversaw construction and installation of subsea pipelines with European Marine Contractors, now Saipem UK.

The Tweedsmuir and Rhum projects utilize the "pipe-in-pipe" (PIP) design solution. PIP involves an inner and outer pipe, with the gap between pipes filled with an insulation material to minimize the heat loss from the inner pipe and thus increase flow assurance. PIP is particularly relevant for the longer subsea tie-backs being adopted as the industry continues to move into deep water projects.

Paul is a graduate of the University of Sussex where he received a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering and structural mechanics and a doctorate in structural engineering. Paul was the honorary secretary for the South East England branch of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology for six years. He is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a European Engineer (Eur Ing).

"We are pleased to welcome Paul to Houston and look forward to his contribution in developing additional project capabilities in the Houston office," said Alan Brackenridge, president of JPK in Houston. "Paul brings state-of-the-art pipe-in-pipe design capability to Houston having worked on several challenging PIP projects that have pushed the boundaries of pipeline design and finite element analysis."
