M-I Production Chemicals Acquires ENERCHEM International Inc.
The agreement includes all specialty chemical operations, including the Sulfex-HD 1090 product line, but excludes any interest in the Egyptian Canadian Company for Chemicals. Based in Nisku, Alberta, the specialty chemical division provides products and services used in the treatment and transportation of crude oil and gas from the wellhead to the refinery. The company will operate as M-I Production Chemicals, a division of M-I Drilling Fluids Canada.
"This acquisition complements the 2001 acquisition of Sulfatreat and the later acquisition of Dynea Oilfield Chemicals. We intend to develop our North American presence in production chemicals by organic growth and further acquisition," said Senior Vice President of Production Chemicals, John Kelly.
M-I Production Chemicals provides engineered chemical solutions for problems in the production, processing and transportation of oil and gas.
M-I Swaco, a joint venture between Smith International, Inc. and Schlumberger Limited, is a leading supplier of drilling, reservoir drill-in and completion fluids, production chemicals, and waste management services to the worldwide petroleum industry. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
