Product Innovation Leads to BP Grangemouth Complex Contract

Ferguson Modular has received a substantial contract award from BP to provide blast rated modular accommodation complexes at its refinery plant in Grangemouth. BP has purchased 10 "Modupack", 8 unit complexes from Ferguson to be used as local amenity buildings, including showers, toilets, locker rooms and canteen areas.

BP is currently going through a process of upgrading some of their existing on-site buildings in line with current legislation. This specifies blast rated accommodation to ensure the safety of their workers in the event of an incident. Following a competitive tendering process the contract has been awarded to Ferguson for their "Modupack" units.

A spokesperson for BP said, "Modupack is ideal for the purpose. The strength and durability of the modules matched our requirements and delivery schedule."

Modupack is unique in the marketplace. It offers the security of a steel shelled unit at lower cost than traditional modules. The modules are fully insulated and supplied with the appropriate electrical fittings and plumbing. Its prefabricated construction allows flexibility of internal layouts, and great savings in transport costs. In addition it has the blast rating needed by companies like BP and is suitable for use in any onshore environment.

Mike McKay, Operations Manager for Ferguson Modular said; "Although our core business remains the hire and sale of offshore accommodation and workspace modules, we have developed our product range to include this unique, high quality, onshore module. Modupack is very flexible and easy to transport and assemble, and it is therefore very cost-effective."

Mike McKay added, "Today the modular accommodation market is changing and in Modupack, Ferguson has a unique product, reflecting out overall approach to innovation and new technology, applied in this case to the onshore market which we can also supply anywhere in the world."
