UK Hydrographic Office Acquires SevenCs
As part of its ongoing commitment to digital charting, the UK Hydrographic Office has acquired leading German navigational software supplier, SevenCs.
Dr Williams, Chief Executive of the UKHO says "We are delighted to incorporate the skills set of SevenCs into the UKHO family". He continues, "This is a natural alliance for us, and the opportunity to work with a very capable ECDIS supplier will be key in developing new products for the mariner in the future".
"Understanding the technical needs of today's mariner and their requirements for modern ECDIS systems, is a vital component of supporting the seafarer. By getting closer to the end users, the UKHO will be better placed to meet these needs in the future.
SevenCs will continue to operate out of the Hamburg base, with the technical directorate of the UKHO ensuring full compatibility across the production systems involved."
Co-founder and Executive Director of SevenCs, Gert Buttgenbach says "We have been looking for the right way to develop SevenCs and this is a good solution for all parties, most importantly it will be good news for the professional mariner".
The UK Hydrographic Office is one of the world's premier suppliers of navigational paper charts and publications under the Admiralty brand, with a folio of over 3,300 charts and 220 publications as well as a digital product portfolio and a range of products for the leisure mariner.
