Schilling to Provide Ultraheavy-Duty Hydraulic ROV to Phoenix Int'l
Schilling Robotics has sold a UHD™ 05 ultraheavy-duty hydraulic ROV to Phoenix International's Subsea Projects Group in Houston, Texas. The 3,500-meter, 150-shp ROV system will add extremely heavy lifting capacity to Phoenix’s ROV fleet. The system, which will be the first UHD™ to operate in the Gulf of Mexico, is scheduled for delivery in May 2006.
The UHD™ system includes Schilling's new Digital Telemetry System™, automatic control functions such as StationKeep™, and Schilling’s new XE™ extended-excursion hydraulic TMS. "The Schilling UHD™ system, with its extremely high lift capacity and ease of configuration, is an excellent choice for Phoenix International,” says Jason Stanley, Schilling Robotics VP and Regional Manager. “Phoenix provides diverse subsea services to clients that range from oil & gas to telecommunications, military, and scientific, and the UHD™ provides the power and configuration flexibility for almost any mission. In particular, our new Ethernet-based Digital Telemetry System™ lets the ROV interface with almost every sensor and instrument on the market."
President Michael Kutzleb of Phoenix International agrees that the UHD™ will be a valuable addition to the Phoenix ROV fleet, saying "The advanced capabilities of the UHD™ will enhance our ability to meet customer needs in the Gulf of Mexico by allowing a greater range of underwater services." Stanley adds, "As the UHD™ is built, Schilling Robotics and Phoenix International will work closely as a team to provide the optimum system configuration for providing that wide range of services." Post-sale technical support for Phoenix's UHD™ system, including depot-level spares and service support, will be provided by Schilling Robotics' Houston office and other Schilling depots.
